Video streaming apps and TV..

Hey guys what's up? I hope you all are doing well. Today I am going to discuss the recent rise of video streaming apps or OTT apps and where they are standing in India. These days youths don't watch much tv as they are addicted to their smartphone most of the time. And they are the primary target of these companies. So will video streaming apps replace traditional tv in the long run?
Frankly speaking the rise in video consumers and ott apps in India are only after the launch of Reliance Jio. In the last 2 years many Indian as well as international OTT apps like Netflix and Amazon Prime has been launched in India.
Many Indian media houses also launched their own OTT apps which streams the same content from tv to mobile like Star India's Hotstar, Viacom18's Voot, Sony pictures Sony Liv and the soon to be launched ZEE's Zee5.
They are mainly advertisement based. But international OTT's are subscription based. Among them Netflix is purely premium with subscription starting above INR 500 per month. Amazon Prime is priced much lower at INR 999 per year. In the long run, Amazon Prime seems to be in favourable position as their price is less than Netflix and they also provide free fast delivery or products from Amazon app for prime customers. In countries like USA many traditional media houses already started feeling the threat from OTT's and as result of which some big mergers and acquisitions are going on.
So which is your favourite among the apps and do you really think they can replace traditional TV in future? Please share your views in the comments section below.

RIL-Future retail acquisition deal

Billionaire Mukesh Ambani, the chairman of Reliance Industries Ltd reportedly is in final stage of acquisition talks with Future Retail led by Kishore Biyani which runs brick and mortar store like Big Bazaar,FBB etc. After the deal RIL will have controlling stake in future retail. This will mark the end of retail journey of Kishore Biyani which started this in India.  They have approximately 1388 stores in India. After this deal RIL will be the undisputed leader in brick and mortar store sector in India. Future  Retail is grappling with cash crunch after it defaulted on a Rs 100-crore ($14-million) repayment on its $500-million foreign currency bonds last week. Promoters have 42% stake in future retail. Let's wait for confirmation from RIL. We will update this article accordingly.

Sony-Viacom18 Merger

Sony Pictures and Viacom18 india, which is a joint venture between Reliance Industries Ltd(RIL) and US media giant Viacom(51:49) is in talks to merge their operations in India. Post merger Sony would have 74% stake and Viacom18 would have 26% stake. Out of which RIL may get 12%-13%. The deal is in final stage. This won't be a cash deal it will be a stock swapping deal. The deal had taken much longer time due to RIL's ongoing negotiation with Google, Facebook for its Jio platforms. This might be a game changer for sony as it will be in a much better position with 'Colors' to fight Disney india which owns entertainment channels like Star plus,Star bharat etc. They might also merge their respective OTTs Sony Liv and Voot which is not much popular as its competitors like Amazon,Hotstar etc.. Though we don't have any confirmation regarding OTT merger. RIL clearly doesn't want to handle a entertainment channel anymore. It just want content for Jio. So after the deal w...
